Kings and priests

John, to the seven churches which are in Asia:

Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.

To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. – Revelation 1.4-6

This picks up where we left off yesterday. We are still looking at living as citizens of a heavenly kingdom while in this very unheavenly world.

While we are here we can live as victors because He has made us kings and princes and washed away our sins in His blood.

He has washed us in His blood. We can’t look over that one little phrase without pausing and reflecting on its impact. He washed away our sins. When we think that we are not of much worth we are looking at it wrongly. We are seeing it as a reflection on us.

We must remember that any esteem we have is not self-esteem, but esteem from Jesus that makes us worthwhile. He has already man us kings and priests in His kingdom so we can give Him glory no matter we face in His life. It’s a sure as though it has already happened – He will one day lift us up.
