If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds. – 2 John 10-11
We must be aware of false
teacher trying to make their way into the church. We must ever be vigilant of
them. We trust of leaders to preach the truth and to point out error, but there
comes and point when we must watch out ourselves for false doctrine and its
teachers.
The body of Christ, his
church, must be precious to us. It is to be treasured and protected. As much as
we are to love those on the outside we need to love and protect ourselves and
this who are the inside.
We need to beware that false
teachers, as Jude puts it, don’t creep in unawares and wreck of lives and our
churches. John says that if we receive them or even greet them we are as guilty
as they are.
This is big deal, as they
say. It is such a big deal that it one of the rare times where we don’t leave
much room for niceties. The one group that Jesus constantly condemned was false
teachers. False teachers, as those who deny that Jesus is the Christ, will
chase great destruction.
We can move them. We can pray for them. But we cannot let them in.
