Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
To God our Saviour,
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,
Both now and forever.
Amen. –
Jude 24-25
To Him who is able to:
To keep you from stumbling
To present you faultless
Both now and forever
The whole question of
whether our eternity is secure or not is wrapped up in those two few little lines.
I really don’t know how much clearer it could be.
He is able – not me – Him. This
whole matter is not based on what I can do or my ability to do right or do anything
to slip out of God’s hands.
He – not me – is the one who
can keep me falling. The problem is that if I could lose my salvation I already
would have.
He – not me – is how I am going
to be presented faultless. I don’t think I can make it through half a day
without fault, must less a lifetime. But it doesn’t matter because He is able
to present me as faultless before the Father.
He is able to do this today,
right now, no matter what my circumstances and He is able to do it forever.
So the doxology following is
in praise of Him because He is the only One who is worthy.
