If the world hates Me...

If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. – John 15.18-19

It seems like the world’s hatred of Christians is growing almost day by day. Our thougths and views and opinions are no longer accepted by the world, in fact that are becoming abhorrent. We are quickly becoming public enemies simply because we live and preach Biblical truth.

The world does not like it and is not going to like it. No one like to be told their lives and their choices are wrong. No one like to be told that they are sinners in need of God so they don’t even want to hear about God.

So they turn on us. They learn to hate God and His people.

Now, I have to say that sometimes they can be almost justified. A lot of folks don’t offend through their relationship with Christ, they offend because they are jerks.

But if we do right. If we insist for example that an unborn child has the right to live, we are seen as full of hate and the world hates us in response.

Jesus told us that this was all to be expected tough. If the world hates His and we dwell in Him and He in us the world is sure to hate us too. If we don’t live like the world and go along with them we are sure to be despised. I heard a preacher say last week that his first response to the gospel and being told he was a sinner was to stab the Christian. Now, that may be extreme, but it does tell us how much people the being told they are sinners.

Sure, the world is going to hate us, but the reward will surely be worth it.
