Abide in my love

As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. – John 15.9-10

Jesus was not quite finished talking about abiding. We abide in Him, His word abides in us, and we bear fruit.

Next He makes it a little more personal. He further explains this concept of abiding as He says ‘Abide in My love.’ But before He even says that He describes the standard for our love. We are to abide in His love and in His Father’s love. That means that it is impossible to love too much. God so loved the world and that is the kind of love that we need to rest in.

If we abide His love His love will dominate and define us. If we abide in His love we won’t be able to help but to love others. Abiding in His love me I am contastantly aware that He loves me and because He loves me I can trust Him to do what is best for me.

Do I live in the light of the love of Christ? Does my life show the the world His love?
