Don't think it strange

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. – 1 Peter 4.12-13

A lot of folks think it strange that the world is not as friendly to Christians as it once was. We think it strange that new laws and regulations are much more friendly to sins and less tolerant of disagreement.

Christians think that this is something exceptional or unexpected or that this shouldn’t be happened. A lot of us in the west have grown up and spent most of our lives when society and culture and even governments have been on our side. It has been great. Laws have been on our side. Our Bible standards have been the basis for society.

But sadly that is changing at an amazing pace. We never know what the next days new is going to bring. Our views have gone being the norm, to being acceptable, and now to being an aberration and considered a threat to society.

Again, why are we surprised? Doesn’t God’s world tell us that those who live godly will suffer persecution? Are we told what to do when it happens, not if it happens?

Most of the world has known this by experience for a long, long time. They know that following Christ has a cost. We about to learn what the rest of the Christian world already knows.
