Wait, I say, on the Lord

“I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” - Psalms 27v13-14

Is there anyone who really likes to wait? Some may do a better job of tolerating waiting in a queue, but there are very few is any who like to wait. We all want to see the things that we want accomplished and we usually want it now/

Waiting on God is the same. When we see some perceived need in our lives we want it taken care of and we want it done now. We easily tire and want God to act according to our timetable.

The psalmist here says that he would have fainted as he waited on God save for one thing; he chose to believe in the goodness of God. When He learned to trust that God is always good he was able to wait on God to act in His goodness. When we learn to do that we can take courage and then we can learn to wait.

Waiting is the clearest evidence of faith in God’s goodness. How are we doing in trusting God’s goodness?
