Let God be magnified

Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
And let those who love Your salvation say continually,
“Let God be magnified!”
But I am poor and needy;
Make haste to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O Lord, do not delay. – Psalm 70.4-5

I think everyone must consider what we magnify in our lives. What is important to us? What do we make large in our focus and our attention?

Some folks magnify their earthly citizenship. The most important thing to them is waving the flag and singing the patriotic tunes. Their country is where they find their pride and their purpose.

Some folks magnify their favourite sports teams. They will wear the gear and fly the flags and do whatever to glorify their team.

Others will magnify themselves or their families or their stuff or whatever. We always magnify what we treasure.

David’s desire was clear – ‘let God be magnified!’

I wish that was my hour by hour day by day desire. I wish I would wake up every day and proclaim ‘let God be magnified in my life today!’ Let me decrease that He might increase.

May everything about me and my character magnify my God to the world around me.
