Seek the Lord

Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon. – Isaiah 55.6-7

Once we we the wonderful invitation to ‘come to me’ we see another appeal that goes a little deeper.

Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.

The world is seeking after all kinds of things. Most of what the world seeks only gives temporary satisfaction. We seek money and possessions and popularity and fame and fortune. There is nothing wrong with these things, but they are never going to be able to fully satisfy. We may also seek that ‘something’ through drink or drugs or sex or politics or other things and still find no satisfaction.

There is however a goal worth seeking. Seek the Lord while He may be found and call on Him while He is near.

That at least implies that there is a time coming when the world may no longer find Him and that He will no longer be near. Of course we know that to be true.God’s spirit will not always strive with mankind. God is loving and gracious and patient and kind, but one day in His eternal plan He will set up His kingdom and the time will run out. Eventually our lives will come to an end and they will be no more time.

Today is the day to make a decision. Now is the time to turn to Christ. Stop going after all the things that are never going to satisfy and seek Christ with heart, mind, and soul.
