It shall prosper

For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. – Isaiah 55.10-11

Sometimes it seems like all of our efforts to be a witness and all of our preaching and teaching and sharing in is vain. It feels like no one cares and no one wants to hear.

God says this though.

Water the earth. Spread the seed. Give out the bread of life. Just keep doing it. There is never an indication about when we are supposed to stop because we are not meant to stop.

But that’s not all. The verse goes on to say why we should not stop. God’s word is not going to return void or empty. God’s word will accomplish what He wants it to do. It will prosper in the way that he intended.

We have been doing Kids Klub here for 20 years. We have shared the gospel with many hundreds of children. We have shared the gospel with friends and coworkers and associates and neighbours and strangers with only a handful of visible results. That can be discouraging. It can make us question ourselves sometimes.

I think that is part of the reason that God gives us this reminder. His ways are higher than my ways. His thoughts are not my thoughts. While I may wonder about what we are doing God says that His word that has been sent out will not return void. It is not a waste. Every Kids Klub we have done and every time we have shared the gospel has not been a waste. God says that it will accomplish what He wants it to do.

So we just keep on keeping on and leaving the results up to God.
