He will prevail

The Lord shall go forth like a mighty man;
He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war.
He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud;
He shall prevail against His enemies. – Isaiah 42.13

We live in a world where it seems lie there is no way that good is going to win out over evil. There is no good news. We are amazed every day at the capacity and the capability of man to sin. Evil has become good and good has become evil.

But we are not alone in feeling that way. It has been going on for a while.

Henry Wandsworth Longfellow wrote a poem called ‘Christmas Bells’ after the loss of his son who was killed in the Civil War. After writing about the war he wrote:

And in despair I bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth," I said;

"For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"

Too often we get stuck there, but Longfellow went on to point out a wonderful truth:

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;

The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men."

God is going to prevail one day. The victory is already won. God have given us the victory in Christ. We, and with Him we, will prevail.
