And be led out with peace;
The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree,
And instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree;
And it shall be to the Lord for a name,
For an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.” – Isaiah 55.12-13
Did you ever consider the fact that everything around us, everything we see today, all the things we treasure and all the things we hate, are temporary and will one day be gone?
That gives us a different perspective on life. All of the bad stuff will one day finally be over and none of the good stuff it going to last forever.
I think that is why Paul writes that we don’t look on the things we can see, but the things we can’t see. All the things we can see are temporal. All the things we cant are eternal.
And one day, when all this mess is said and done and we go out with joy and peace and singing the name of the Lord will shine forever and it will be an ‘everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.’
Maybe we ought to go ahead and get on board now and start focusing on that ‘everlasting sign that will not be cut off.’
