Kingdoms

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. – Revelation 11.15-16

It sure seems like this old world is in control, doesn’t it? All over the world laws are being passed that go totally contrary to the word of God and contrary to our way of thinking. It could almost make one want to just give up and give in.

But Christians we have always been future minded. In fact, that is so well known that it is one of the criticisms cast on us. Those who don’t believe may think that we create this false hope because we can’t handle things here and now.

But I don’t mind that. I don’t want my focus to me on death and despair and destruction – and if our record shows anything it shows that is what man does. The nations of the this world have proven themselves incapable of doing much to sort out man’s root problems.

And they will keep on failing to bring world peace and harmony.

But the day of peace and harmony is coming. It is coming when Jesus comes to establish His earthly reign and all the kingdoms of the world be His and not left up to sinful men.

What a day it will be when all the petty kingdoms of this world well and truly are part of God’s eternal kingdom.
