A new start

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. – Revelation 21.1-5

What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see…

I am glad we have a great assured hope for the future. I am glad that I am looking for a day when all the stuff we have to put up with today will be gone and we all get a new fresh start. When this old world is done away God promises us the joy of a new heaven and a new earth. God and men will tabernacle together as men live with God and God with man.

And then there will be

No more tears
No more death
No more sorrow
No more crying
No more pain

Because all the old things will be done away with and everything will be made new.

I don’t know about you, but that list of ‘no mores’ sounds pretty good to me and we all have had, have, and will have plenty of them. We have all had our share of tears and crying. We have all had our share of deaths. We have all had our share of sorrow. We have all had our share of pain. When those things come they shatter our lives and our hopes and our thoughts. Those things consume us.

But one day, one wonderful, glorious, marvellous, amazing, fantastic, joyous day all of that will be done away as we share eternity with our God.

Indeed, what a day that will be.
