After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.” – Revelation 4.1
Just before Jesus starts
describing all that is going to happen in the Tribulation He calls John up into
heaven. I don’t know how all that happened, but God says it did. John needed to
see these things from a heavenly perspective.
The wonderful thing is that
we get to see the same perspective through John’s written word. It is vital
that we grasp that before we start reading.
The whole book is God’s
grace showing the world what is going to happen. All the way through He is
actively providing a way for man to turn to Him. John, and through him, all of
us are going to be privy to the glory and majesty and all the workings in
heaven. Through that we are going to see His love and His mercy in the midst of
judgement.
What a privilege to have front row seats to watch God work.
