After these
things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of
all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and
before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who
sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” All the angels stood around the throne
and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before
the throne and worshiped God, saying:
“Amen!
Blessing and glory and wisdom,
Thanksgiving
and honour and power and might,
Be to our God
forever and ever.
Amen.” –
Revelation 7.9-12
…and honour and power and
might! What a wonderful list of things that God is worthy of and that we are
blessed to have part in.
Right in the middle of the
list is the reminder that God is due our thanksgiving. We we’ll know that
thanksgiving is a theme of scripture from beginning to end. We are told to
offer up a sacrifice of thanksgiving. We are told to give thanks for all
things. We are told to give thanks in every situation?
True thanksgiving g requires
that we trust God completely. We can only give thanks when we believe that God
is doing what is best. We can always be grateful no matter what when we
recognise that He is good and He loves us and that he causes all things work together
for good, even when we can’t see it.
God is always worthy of our
thanks. We must remember who He is and give thanks for His work in our lives.
