Paul reminds Timothy that he has been through for the cause of Christ. He reminds Timothy that the same is liable to happen to him. There is no notion that serving God is going to be easy.
The great thing is though that we don’t have to keep them on our own. Paul said ‘I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that HE IS ABLE to keep the things I have committed to Him until the very end.
One of our grandkids’ favourite songs goes:
He is able, He is able
I know He his able
I know my Lord is able to carry me through.
He heals the broken hearted
He sets the captive free
He makes the lame to walk again
And He calls the blind to see
Christ has shown us His power. He has proven that He is willing and able to carry me through whatever comes my way. It’s been a troublesome few months and it’s really hard to know what is coming next, but it is sure good to know that He knows and He is able to carry us through no matter what may come our way.
