Our footgear

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; - Ephesians 6.14-18

Ive heard it said that the one thing a warrior desires more than anything else it is peace. Sadly sometimes warfare has to be used as way to acquire peace. Our warfare though seeks peace not through winning a military battle, but a spiritual one.

Our desire is to solve the conflict, not with physical weapons and armour, but by sharing the gospel of peace. Shoes or boots are vital in a battle. They give us a grounding, they give us traction, they give us a firm footing. One of the biggest issues in a battle is to make sure your troops can stand up and walk and hold their ground and have stability.

It is the gospel of the peace of our God that is our grounding. That peace that passes all understanding is what will keep us going when everything seems to be a slippery slope. It gives us traction. The Pslams talk about the beautiful feet of those who bring goodness.

If we aren’t at peace we can’t take peace to others, so let’s be sure we are grounded in peace as we set out today.
