Be strong

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. – Ephesians 6.10-13

Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. We have to be reminded over and over again about this. References in the power of the Lord abound all through the word of God. I think it is because we are a bit thick and we have to be reminded that we are not as strong as we think we are because no one like to think of themselves as weak.

But we are weak. Any one of us who has tried to fight our spiritual battles on our own knows just how weak we are. Every single time I have relied on my own strength to get through a battle I have lost. We are powerless and hopeless without Him. He that is in the world is stronger that I am, but greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world.

We need to give up trying to handle it on our own. We need to give up trying to figure it all out on our own. We need give up trying to figure out how God is going to sort it out. We need to trust Him and His power.

Be strong – but in His strength alone. Be storing the power of His might and His might alone.

Only then are we going to find the peace of resting in Him.
