Today!

Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. – Hebrews 3.12-13

If there ever was a day that required mutual exhortation it is today. An awful lot of folks are down, discouraged, despaired, and maybe even feeling defeated.

And you could blame them/us? We just can’t see m to get out of this thing. Somehow it just keeps going on. I am not going to argue about the merits or demerits of all of this, but here we are.

It can be tough these days even to keep on keeping on,

But we should not ever have to do this alone. We have each other and part of our job is to keep exhorting and encouraging each other day after day after day.

1 Corinthians 14.26 says that we should strive to do everything is such a way that the brethren will be edified.

While it is today – of course that means every day because when today gets here it is today and today is the day to exhort each other. It’s too late for yesterday and we don’t know what tomorrow brings so we need to use every today to exhort each other.

Don’t wait to exhort. Who knows what might happen tonight and that chance will be forever lost? When God lays it on your heart to encourage someone – just do it – TODAY.
