God's word endures

having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the LORD endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. – 1 Peter 1.24-25

Everything eventually breaks down. Every living being dies. All grass and plants die away. Everything man ever does fades away. We born, we live our lives, and then we are gone just like the grasses and flowers that grow up and eventually fade away.

There is one thing we can count on not to fade away. The word of God is alive and it lives and abides forever.

We have the same word of God as the thousands of years old manuscripts in the Chester Beatty library in Dublin. We have the same Bible as found in the even older Dead Sea Scrolls. God’s word is preserved in heaven for us and it will also endure.

It is also the living word of God that shall prevail over all. It is alive and it dwells in the hearts of God’s people. We have something we can depend on no matter what the circumstances or situations. It is there during pandemic or crisis or turmoil or disaster and it will never fail.

When things look dark and hopeless we still have God's word to rely on.
