Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you;
And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
Blessed are all those who wait for Him. – Isaiah 30.18
We know all about how we are supposed to wait. We have seen that at least a dozen times. We are used the fact that we are supposed to wait on God.
But here we read about something else – ‘therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious.’
‘The Lord is slow to anger’ we read, but He is ‘great on power’ and He will punish the wicked. God is righteous and evil cannot go unpunished. I don’t think anyone would like the concept of a God who didn’t deal with evil.
But, God is also patient. ‘God will wait’ instead of acting in haste.
Thank God that He is waiting. Even as this world gets more and more wicked God still waits to give the world a chance to accept His amazing gift of eternal life in Christ.
We must be active telling other while He waits in order to show His grace.
