In this you
greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been
grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more
precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to
praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not
seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with
joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the
salvation of your souls. - 1
Peter 1:6-9
Irrepressible joy. Unworkable
joy. We could all do with good dose or that now, couldn’t we? There is not a
whole lot of joy out there today. There does not appear to be a lot of cause to
rejoice.
Because, when it is all said
and done we have the most important thing there is. We have the full assurance
of eternal salvation. No matter what we face
we can live in joy because of the unspeakable joy that is coming at the end
that will make this worth it all.
This joy ought to dominate
our lives and our thinking and our attitude. We should be like children excited
about going to Disneyworld. This joy should be enough to overcome whatever we
are going through today.
I am going to heaven one
day. I can get through this present trial because God has poured out His mercy
on me and given me eternal life with Him.
How exciting is that?
