Then he said
to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy
prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take
place. “Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the
prophecy of this book.” - Revelation 22:6-7
At the beginning of
Revelation we read the words ‘whoever reads these words and hears them will be
blessed.’ The same thing is repeated at the end except it says that he who
keeps the words of this prophecy will me blessed.
We need to remember that
this book was written to prepare the world for the coming of Christ. Here John has
a little note for us that those who keep the words of the book , or take them
to heart, will be blessed.
Revelation is not just a
great story about the end times full of mystery and fantastic happenings. It is
more than can be novelised. The purpose is to remind us of then great fact that
the wrath of God is coming and while we wait we ought to be sharing with others
how they can escape His wrath.
Blessed are we if we need the words of Revelation and act on them.
