And thou
shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well
with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD
sware unto thy fathers, -

We are saved
by faith. It is the gift of God. It is His work. He has delivered us just as
surely as He delivered Israel. There is more to do than actually just remember
what God has done. The best way to show that we remember what God has done is
to do things to reflect it.
Do what is
right in the sight of the Lord
Do what is
good in the sight of the Lord.
Because it is God who did the delivering we show our
love and gratitude to Him by doing right and by doing what is good. We could
never be good and right enough to deliver ourselves, so our good works are not
for deliverance. Our good works follow in reaction to God’s deliverance.
We need to be sure not to forget God once we have been
delivered. He must always be first and foremost in our lives. We prove that we
have not forgotten Him by doing the right thing and by doing what is good.
