Forever mercy

For I have said, "Mercy shall be built up forever; Your faithfulness You shall establish in the very heavens." - Pslam 89v2

Mercy shall be built up forever. God will establish His faithfulness in the heavens.

This passage reminds me of that great section of Lamentations where Jeremiah wrote - 'Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.'

I am so grateful that God's mercy and His faithfulness do not run out. If they did I would have used up my share a long time ago. I am grateful that God's faithfulness is established in heaven, and not hear on earth. I for one, certainly do not deserve His faithfulness to me when I can be so unfaithful to Him.

But His mercy is built up forever. His comapssions do not fail. His mercies are renewed and refreshed every single day. His continued mercies are proof of His great, heaven founded faithfulness.

God's forever mercy is found on His great faithfulness. Songwriter Thomas Chisholm nailed it with his hymn 'Great is Thy Faithfulness' written in 1932. I think our brother says it all here.

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou for ever will be

Great is thy faithfulness
Great is thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed thy hand hath provided
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To thy great faithfulness, mercy and love

Great is thy faithfulness
Great is thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed thy hand hath provided
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me
Great is thy faithfulness

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside

Great is thy faithfulness
Great is thy faithfulness
All I have needed thy hand hath provided
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me
