And truly
Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not
written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that
Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in
His name. - John 20.30-31
We
only get a glimpse what Jesus did while He was here. There were a lot of things
they were not written here. At the end of the book we find out that all the
books in the world could not contain what Jesus had done.
But
here we find out why He did what He did.
All
these things are written down (I love that by the way. It is all written day.
It was not just oral tradition. It is all there in black and white) so that the
readers would believe that Jesus is the Christ, that He is the Son of God, and
that the belief would be life in His name.
What
a blessing to see that not only did Jesus die for us, He lived for us and did
all Him marvellous works for us as well. When He turned the water into wine He
did that so that we would believe and be saved. When He healed the sick and
raised the dead He did that so that we would believe and be saved. When He
walked on water and calmed the storm He did that so that we would believe and
be saved.
‘Living
He loved me, dying He saved me, and buried He carried my sins far away. Rising
He justified freely forever. One day He's coming, oh, glorious day, oh,
glorious day.’
