He who is faithful in what is least is
faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in
much. Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who
will commit to your trust the true riches? - Luke 16.10-11
Sometimes we can feel like our role in the eternal scheme of things is pretty small. We can feel like everyone else does so much more and is so
much more important than we are. The setting is where a servant who has been
accused of not taking proper care of his responsibilities. When questioned about
it he works out a way to take care of his responsibly and satisfy his master.
When he does that he is commended for being faithful in the
small matter of finances. It shows his character of faithfulness to what he is
supposed to do.
Faithfulness is not measured by the amount of
responsibility. It is a character trait. The point is that we need to be
faithful in whatever task God gives us be it great or small.
So just stay faithful where ever God has you. It may in a
big church or a small church. It may be as an executive or a labourer. It may
be as a teacher or a student. It may in the workplace or at home.
There is one thing God requires of His stewards – it is that
they be found faithful where they are.
